Early
next morning we leave westbound on very good and empty roads enjoying
interesting scenery. From Custer the way leads via Moorcroft to
Buffalo. On a parallel railroad track we see one of those never
ending freight trains and use the opportunity to count the cars. It
is 156, with two engines in the front and one in the rear.
West
of Buffalo the road leads high up into the Bighorn Mountains and 9666
feet high over the Powder River Pass. The descent provides
spectacular views.
In
Thermopolis we end up at “Fountain of Youth RV Park“. The park
does not have a lot to offer except a threepart pool that is fed by a
hot spring.
